AMAZING HANDPAINTED PAICHE FISH SCALE FROM PERU
MADE INTO KEYCHAIN BUT THESE ALSO MAKE GREAT CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS
ANOTHER STUNNING SUNRISE OR SUNSET SCENE, WITH GORGEOUS ORANGES & YELLOWS. REFLECTED ON THE WATER; LITTLE SHACK & THE ALMOST ALWAYS PRESENT FELLOW IN THE BOAT.
My husband got some of these when he was in Peru on a Work & Witness trip in the mid-1990's, but this one belonged to a friend who recently passed away. After he retired he traveled all over the world doing Work & Witness trips, helping people wherever he could. He left many of his possessions he collected to us, & unfortunately we simply don't have the space to keep everything. I will be listing lots of his items, as I am able, & hope they will find homes with people who appreciate their history & the kind man who collected them.
It is hand-painted on a large fish scale. My husband went back to Peru & found out the name of the fish. It's PAICHE. Found the photos above & following info on these fish....
The arapaima, pirarucu, or paiche (genus Arapaima) is a genus in the family of bonytongues (Arapaimidae) native to the Amazon and Essequibo basins of South America. They are among the world's largest freshwater fish, reaching as much as 4.5 m (15 ft). They are important food fish.
This one has another gorgeous sunrise or sunset scene, with bright oranges & yellows, all reflected in the water. Also a shack & the fellow in a boat; beautiful scenery. The details of these little paintings are amazing. Mounted on a keyring, but you could make anything from it, including a Christmas ornament or a necklace. THESE DO VARY IN SIZE, AS THEY ARE MADE FROM REAL FISH SCALES FROM A VERY LARGE FISH. Size of this one is approximately 2 1/4"L x 1 1/4" at widest point. They are also curved, with some more curved than others. This would be wider if not curved. It has never been used, & has been in storage since our friend brought it back. You may find some stray paint on the back of these, as they ARE hand-painted.
Colors are nicer than they appear in the photos, but I am not responsible if the colors on your monitor are different from how they appear in person.
