This is a handwoven wrap around belt which comes from Peru. These types of Peruvian belts are very important to the Indigenous people of Peru as they were developed by the Incas and are sometimes called Chumpis. These belts are used during rituals and ceremonies for protection.
This belt measures 76 inches long not including the fringe by 4 inches wide. This belt has no buckle which is typical of this style as the belt is wrapped tightly around the waist and tucked into itself. Very beautiful and highly desirable.
