Large Collection of Handmade Alpaca, Wool & Cotton Clothing + Sandals from PeruThis is a special opportunity to purchase a unique and very diverse collection of artesania/handcrafts and other collectible items from Peru.
There are four handknit 100% alpaca hats, three knitted by a lady from Huancayo in the central Andes and a reversible, black and grey (natural colors) alpaca hat from Puno in southern Peru. All are adult size and very warm.
There is a textile remnant in wool with a traditional black and white cocha or lake pattern; a 100% wool pillow with zipper about 16 inches square, crafted from textiles from the La Libertad Region; and a handwoven cotton textile coverlet pillow that is a bit larger than standard size, produced on the coast near Ica where cotton is grown.
Three pairs of tire-tread sandals, hand-cut and fashioned from old tires, with added floral decorations. Sizes are women's medium. these were purchased from an old craftsmen in a market outside of Lima, this style of footwear being commonly used by the rural people of the Andes.
Two binchas, or headbands fashioned from a modern-blend of textile in typically-vibrant rural Peru colors; 6 pieces of children's clothing, all in organic cotton and handknit, the cotton being of the Tanguis variety that is very soft and typically grown along the Pacific Coast.
There is a lovely 100% alpaca scarf made by a lady in Puno from alpaca wool she and her family sheared, carded, washed, spun and knitted by hand; a beautiful alpaca waistband from Huancayo that is incredibly soft; a much rougher wool-acrylic blend (men's small) sweater from Coracora in rural Ayacucho; and some handspun yarn in 100% alpaca from Puno, plus a bit of alpaca yarn from a factory in Arequipa.
Also, another cotton pillow coverlet and finally a wool-blend hand-woven throw from a wonderful community of weavers in the high, remote mountains just a few hours outside of Lima.
This is something of a unique collection acquired over many years. It needs an appreciative home. Carefully shipped with tracking.
