Beautifully handmade pair of ethnic cloth dolls from South America. Real leather sandals. Real (human?) hair. There is an amazing amount of work and detail to both of these dolls. Both figures are also an impressive size at 14 inches tall. I imagine they date from the 1940s to 1960s.
The bodies are all sewn cloth. The textiles all appear to be handloomed. Each has a decorated hat. The male has a single ponytail, while the woman has two ponytails. The woman has a spindle and ball of yarn denoting the woman's role as textile weaver. The woman's cloth face shows some damage as seen.
Dolls Measure 14 Inches Tall x 9 Inches Wide.
