This piece is a Staff of Command, Staff of Power or Shaman Staff, is the symbol of the tree of life, of the axis between heaven and earth, and this makes it an intermediate tool to connect and send messages to heaven. In the Andean villages, the staff or "Vara," is used as a receiver and launcher of energy; it gives direction and increases its intensity.
The staff of power and command is the link with the spiritual energies.
This staff; is made out of "Chonta" wood. Also, has carved a chacana and the heads of the Andean Trilogy; Otorongo (Anden puma), Sachamama (serpent), and the majestic Anden condor. All these images; are carved in MachuPicchu serpentine stone. At the tip of the staff, it has quartz. The chacana; is connected to the staff with a leather string. Also, it has some seeds and macaws feathers.
Chonta Wood:
It is a dark and extremely hardwood from the jungle, used for important spiritual tools such as staffs, crosses, and small idols of saints. Chonta, is a special wood that becomes impregnated through one's spirit, one's potency, with the spiritual form of the curandero.
