Pre-columbian Nascq basket. This is a fairly large basket which opens like a pocketbook but only has one handle on one side. The construction of this basket is sort of unusual it's more like a twined basket technique. It measures 13 inches across at the top and 11 and 1/4 in from the rim to the bottom with the handle strap measuring approximately 12 in. This basket was created by the Nazca culture who created the famous Nazca lines in Peru they lived on the southern coast of Peru between C 100 to AD 800. The basket is in very good condition considering that it is slightly over 2,000 years old.
